Definitions: Vowels are used to help with the pronunciation of words. The vowels in the American alphabet are A, E, I, O, U and sometimes Y – (Note: Y can occasionally replace I). | Examples: 1. Read 2. Jump 3. Type |
Consonants are letters of the alphabet which are not a vowels. The consonants in the American alphabet are B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y and Z. | 1. Table 2. Water 3. Television |
