Definition:

Progressive or action verbs refer to or describe an action or activity in progress.

Note:
With progressive verbs,when describing a temporary characteristic, use (be + adjective).
Be is most commonly used for foolish, nice, kind, lazy, careful, patient, silly, rude, polite and impolite actions. (Example 5)

Examples:

1. (feel) She is feeling the soft, wool sweater.

2. (think) Tim is thinking about studying at the library.

3. (taste) My mom tastes the sauce.

4. (smell) She smells the corn to check for          freshness.

5. (be) The clown is being silly.

6. (understanding) I am not  understanding the game.

7. (appreciating) They are appreciating the help you gave them.
