Class 26-3: Future Unreal Conditionals

27-3If we were not so dizzy, I would drive home.”

Rules:

The future unreal conditional is used to describe imaginary actions you think you will do in the future.

Future unreal conditional is different from other unreal conditional forms because you do not know what will happen in the future. You must guess.

It is called unreal because it is not likely or possible the action will happen in the future.

Only if is used with future unreal conditional. Using if says that you do not know if an action will happen or not. You must guess. Using when says that an action will definitely happen in the future.

Examples:

1. If I did not have to work next year, I would spend all year traveling the world.

2. If I had money, I would quit my job tomorrow.

3. If I were moving to London next year, I would have a going-away party.
