Rule:

Noun clauses that start with the word that are used to answer questions in which a person who is answering is thinking or giving an opinion.

Note: That will usually come directly before the pronoun or common noun in the sentence.

Examples:

1. I think that she’s nice. (*Note: she’s a             pronoun.)

2. I know that answer. (*Note: answer is a common noun.

3. I think that you are smart. (*Note: you is a    pronoun.)
