Rules:

Noncount nouns are singular and need a singular verb.

Examples:

1. The water is good.

2. The coffee tastes great.

3. The soda looks like Coke.

Count nouns can be both singular and plural. The verb needs to match the subject of the sentence.

1. The books are on the table.

2. The book is on the table.

Collective nouns are nouns that mean more than one person. Collective nouns are used with singular verbs.(Examples: team, group, party)

1. The team won the competition.

2. We made a reservation for a party of five.
